How to obtain the CE marking for flooring and cladding systems
The procedure that manufacturers must follow to affix the CE Mark to their flooring and cladding systems varies depending on the type of product and its intended use.

The standards define both the types of chemical, physical and mechanical tests to be performed, as well as their recurrence over time - both of which are necessary requirements for certifying the compliance of flooring systems.

In general, the Manufacturer is required to:
  • perform Initial Type Tests (or PTD - Product Type Determination);
  • implement a Factory Production Control System (FPC). The production control guarantees the constant performance of the products over time;
  • classify and declare - based on the results of the tests - the performance characteristics of the products according to the indications of the standards.
  • How we can help you
    Certimac's experts CE - CPR marking work alongside manufacturers of flooring and cladding systems throughout the certification process, helping them to simplify the process of compliance with national and international standards and building codes, providing tests and efficient certifications from the point of view of times, costs and regulatory compliance.

    In particular, in its role as Notified Body - n. 2685 CPR (EU) 305/2011 for the issue of Test and Classification Certificates, Certimac carries out all the third party tasks assigned to it in the process of assessing and verifying the performance requirements and constancy of performance and for which it has been notified by the Ministries in charge, determining the characteristics or performance of construction materials or products in accordance with the requirements of current regulations.

    Certimac carries out the analyzes and laboratory tests necessary for the Evaluation and Verification of Constancy of Performance - VVCP - and for the issue of certificates of constancy of performance.
    Flooring and cladding systems that require the intervention of the Notified Body
    Ceramic tiles are among the products classified with the VVCP 3 system. In these cases the product must be tested by a Notified Body (notified laboratory).
    In its role as Notified Body for products classified with VVCP 3 system out of thirty harmonized standards, Certimac operates as a Laboratory Notified test with the task of measuring, examining, verifying and certifying the characteristics or performance of ceramic tiles.
    Flooring and cladding systems without the intervention of the Notified Body
    Grit tiles and raised floors are part of the VVCP 4. Certimac can collaborate with the Manufacturer for the execution of the initial type tests and controls of the production process in the factory for the CE marking pursuant to CPR (EU) 305/2011.
