Project

Ravenna Green Port is a three-year research project funded by the Emilia-Romagna region and the Italian Ministry of Economic Development. 

Launched in October 2015, it was managed by Certimac in partnership with CNR ITAE of Messina and in collaboration with the Province of Ravenna, Ravenna Port Authority, the Municipality of Ravenna and with the involvement of several companies operating in the Port of Ravenna.

Goals

Ravenna Green Port project has three goals:
  • To develop a reference center – human resources, equipment, technologies and skills – dedicated to design, implementation, management and monitoring of sustainable mobility, green buildings and re-furbishmentt of existing infrastructures and production of electricity from RES – Renewable energy Sources in the port area;
  • To realize a set of pilot interventions for Integrated Energy Efficiency improvement of the Port areas of Ravenna in consultation with business, public administrations and institutions operating in the port;
  • To define a transformation roadmap for the development of the port of Ravenna, and for other ports with similar geographic and industrial characteristics, together with measures relating to dissemination, communications and networking that will be activated during the project at local, regional, national and European level.

    • Activities

    Ravenna Green Port implemented an energy audit of a part of the Port of Ravenna considered strategic in relation to overall energy consumption, and, starting from this, a series of pilot interventions were designed and manufactured, and then monitored and maintained:
    - energy efficiency of buildings and existing infrastructures;
    - sustainable mobility;
    - production of electricity from RES.
    These pilot interventions represent the starting point of a roadmap for the development of the Port of Ravenna in the field of sustainable and smart innovation, relating to other ports with similar characteristics and objectives.

    The network that is involved in know-how and technological dissemination have the possibility to begin collaboration in Research – Industry projects in order to take part in financing calls for proposals at Regional, national and European level on the topics of the Project.
