Certimac joins the official list of authorised ReMade® consultants

ntegrated technical support for companies seeking to certify the recycled content of their products

Certimac has been officially authorised as a consultant within the ReMade certification scheme. Dr Filippo Baioli, Head of the Sustainability Area, and Dr Alessia Cavina have been included in the official list of authorised professionals published by ReMade®, following the successful completion of the qualification process.

This authorisation enables Certimac to formally support companies in preparing for certification, from the technical analysis of materials to the readiness audit phase, while maintaining full independence from certification bodies.

What is ReMade Certification and why it matters for companies

ReMade is a certification scheme accredited according to ISO 17065 that verifies the percentage of recycled material and/or by-products contained in a material, semi-finished product or finished product.

The certification ensures transparency and traceability of material flows throughout the entire production chain, from verification of the origin of raw materials to the final product.

Its relevance has grown significantly with the evolution of public procurement regulations. ReMade Certification is recognised as a valid means of proof for demonstrating compliance with the Italian Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM) and represents a strategic tool for companies participating in Green Public Procurement (GPP) procedures.

In many public tenders, demonstrating recycled content is either a mandatory requirement or an award criterion in the evaluation of bids.

Certimac’s support services for ReMade Certification

With this authorisation, Certimac can now assist companies throughout the entire preparatory pathway leading to ReMade Certification, with an approach that goes beyond documentary support.

The process includes several key steps: a preliminary analysis of the product and production processes, the collection and structuring of the technical documentation required by the scheme, and a readiness audit to assess the company’s level of preparation before the official certification audit. Certimac also supports companies throughout the certification process in their interaction with the certification body.

The distinctive value of Certimac’s service lies in the integration with the technical expertise already available in-house. Laboratory testing of materials, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies and support for CAM compliance can be combined with the ReMade® pathway within a single project. This integrated approach optimises time and resources while providing companies with a comprehensive technical understanding of their environmental performance.

Who the service is for

The service is intended for companies that manufacture or place on the market products and materials containing recycled raw materials. In particular, the certification pathway is strategic for:

  • Manufacturers of construction materials, to ensure compliance with the technical requirements of sustainable construction.
  • Companies operating in the plastics and polymer value chain, to certify recycled content in line with new European packaging directives.
  • Manufacturers of industrial components and furniture, to enhance the use of regenerated resources in material-intensive sectors.
  • Companies participating in public procurement procedures, to meet the mandatory requirements of the Italian CAM and obtain additional scoring advantages in supply tenders.

Certimac’s Sustainability Area: an integrated system of services

Certimac’s Sustainability Area provides companies with an integrated range of services for assessing and certifying the environmental impacts of products and processes, including Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Environmental Product Declarations (EPD), Carbon Footprint, Water Footprint and PEF/OEF analyses.

Among these services, support for compliance with the Italian Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM) is becoming increasingly important. CAM define the environmental requirements applied in Italian public procurement across several sectors, including construction, furniture, textiles and paper. Certimac supports companies in verifying and documenting compliance with applicable CAM requirements, combining technical advisory activities with laboratory testing and life cycle assessment tools.

The ReMade® authorisation fits naturally within this framework, strengthening Certimac’s ability to support companies operating in markets that are increasingly driven by verified sustainability requirements.
