Certimac will take part in Composites Future 2026, the new biennial trade show dedicated to the composite materials industry, to be held at Fieramilano - Rho from 9 to 12 June 2026, as part of the broader MaTec - Next Materials and Technologies event, which brings together Xylexpo and Plast under one roof.
Certimac's participation comes at a moment of great significance for the sector: a concrete opportunity to meet operators, researchers and companies that see composites as key materials for the transition towards a more high-performing and sustainable industry.
Composites Future: the first B2B event for the composites world
Born from the collaboration between Assocompositi, Xylexpo and Plast, Composites Future aims to become the reference point for innovative materials and technologies, with a particular focus on the marine, aerospace, automotive, construction and renewable energy sectors. This is a rapidly growing market: the global value of the high-performance composite materials sector is estimated to exceed 70 billion euros, with double-digit growth rates expected over the next twenty years.
With 70,000 sqm of exhibition space, 1,700 expected exhibitors and 60,000 anticipated visitors (30% from abroad), MaTec 2026 represents the largest European opportunity for those operating in the advanced materials supply chain. Composites Future will be hosted in Hall 18, with a rich programme of technical and educational events - from the Composites Future Academy to the Demo Area - also accessible via live streaming on the dedicated digital platform.
Certimac will be present at the Tecnopolo Ravenna stand, alongside leading regional research partners: ENEA, the Laboratory for Ceramic and Composite Materials for the Manufacturing Industry, CNR-ISSMC (Institute of Science, Technology and Sustainability for Ceramic Materials Development) and the University of Bologna. A collective presence that highlights the strength of the Romagna research ecosystem on the national composites stage.
A research centre specialised in testing and characterisation, Certimac offers companies advanced expertise in high-performance composite optimisation, thermophysical characterisation and numerical modelling, with an approach focused on promoting durability, sustainability and circularity of composite materials. These capabilities find application across a wide range of industrial sectors - from construction to automotive, from marine to aerospace - enabling Certimac to support companies concretely from the research phase through to final product qualification.
Certimac's participation in Composites Future is also an opportunity to showcase its contribution to the BRILLIANT project (Biobased fiber Reinforced composItes vaLidation and end of LIfe treatment), funded under the PR-FESR 2021–2027 programme of the Emilia-Romagna Region.
The project addresses one of the sector's most pressing challenges: achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, as required by EU directives, by developing structural composites using natural fibres - flax, hemp and bamboo - as alternatives to high-embodied-energy carbon fibres.
BRILLIANT works simultaneously on two critical fronts: moisture resistance through fluorine-free (PFAS-free) hydrophobic treatments, and end-of-life material management, with the recovery of biochar from plant waste in an industrial symbiosis logic.
Certimac participates as a partner, providing cross-cutting support across all project phases, from material characterisation to performance validation. A concrete example of how applied research, when rooted in the territory and connected to major scientific networks, can deliver innovations capable of addressing the industrial and environmental challenges of our time.
